Zurich/Houston - FemTec Health, a Texan health and beauty company, has acquired Ava AG in the Greater Zurich Area. Worn during sleep, the Ava bracelet collects data to determine a woman’s most fertile days. It was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration at the start of 2021.
Shell of new Empa laboratory building reaches completion
Dübendorf ZH - The new laboratory building of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technologies (Empa) has celebrated its topping-out ceremony. The building at the so-called co-operate research campus is extensively protected against vibrations and is expected to open its doors in summer 2024.

Endogena testing therapy to combat inherited blindness
Schlieren/Toronto/Los Angeles - Endogena has treated the first patient with its active ingredient to combat retinitis pigmentosa. It is intended to preserve or restore a person’s ability to see. Endogena belongs to the Rejuveron group, which operates out of Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich as well as the Canadian city of Toronto.
Switzerland secures third place in crypto rankings

US institute awards algorithms developed by Swiss IBM lab
Rüschlikon - The National Institute of Standards and Technology in the USA has announced four winning algorithms that are regarded as particularly promising in the area of quantum computing. IBM’s Swiss research lab based in Rüschlikon in the canton of Zurich played a key role in developing three of the four algorithms.
