The laboratory, which will be established on July 1 and commence operations in the second half of 2018, will network with universities and startups to work on innovations in the fields of electric mobility, connectivity and mobility as a service. It will also examine initiatives from German automaker Volkswagen and exchange ideas with other technology partners in Europe.
“The laboratory will likely be located in a co-working environment in the Greater Zurich Area to ensure market proximity and efficient exchange with startups, accelerators, universities and cooperation partners,” according to an AMAG statement.
The laboratory will be headed by Philipp Wetzel, who joined AMAG in 2012. As director of marketing and business development, digital director and member of the executive board of AMAG Import AG, Wetzel was also in charge of developing the group-wide digital strategy.
