Winterthur/Glattbrugg ZH - The Cantonal Hospital Winterthur is installing an innovative solution for staff lockers from Zippsafe. The spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich has developed them specifically for public spaces with limited amounts of space.

Zippsafe has developed space-saving lockers for public spaces. This is a textile-type locker system. A sensor is integrated in the textile fabric that sets off an alarm when damaged during an attempted theft. Thanks to a digital locking system the lockers are easy to use. Additional functions are integrated ventilation and a separate shoe storage solution for high hygiene standards.

The Cantonal Hospital Winterthur has tested Zippsafe's locker room solution as part of a pilot project. As stated in a press release, it now wants to install the lockers in its new replacement building. The contract reportedly comprises lockers for over 2000 employees. They are to be installed from mid-2019.

“We have chosen Zippsafe because our staff have clearly expressed a preference for this solution compared with the conventional impersonal locker systems that might have fitted the limited space constraints”, explains Angelika Züst, Head of Housekeeping at the Canton Hospital. She said that they had been particularly impressed by the combination of space efficiency, process optimisation and user-friendliness.

“The big order by the Cantonal Hospital Winterthur is especially important for us on two levels, namely it confirms the added value of our innovation and the high level of expertise of our young Swiss company”, says Carlo Loderer, CEO of Zippsafe.

Zippsafe was founded in 2015 as a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). Its headquarters are in Glattbrugg ZH. This is where product development, production of prototypes and marketing take place. Zippsafe’s clients include the airline SWISS
