Zurich – Eighteen months before its scheduled opening, real estate project The Circle at Zurich Airport is on track reports CEO Stephan Widrig. Around half the area is already leased out and further tenants will be announced soon.

The new service centre called The Circle will cover an area of 180,000 square metres at Zurich Airport. It will include shops, restaurants, hotels and a health centre run by the University Hospital Zurich. Construction will be completed at the end of 2019 and it is scheduled to open in the first half of 2020.

In an interview with the newspaper Finanz und Wirtschaft, Stephan Widrig, CEO of Zurich Airport, said that around half the space has already been leased out, adding that “we will soon be able to announce the tenants of another 10,000 square metres or so”. Interest has increased noticeably over the last year, especially as potential tenants can now view the building. Stephan Widrig explained that IT giants such as Amazon, Google and Facebook are seeking sites where they can offer brand experience in the USA. This is possible at The Circle. Stephan Widrig: “The Circle offers the right space and an excellent location in Zurich.”

Tenants of The Circle include the company Spaces, which intends to open the largest co-working space in Switzerland on an area of 3,000 square metres. Microsoft also plans to relocate its head office in Switzerland to the new building.
