Altdorf - Dätwyler is set to launch its proprietary film coating technology at two trade fairs in the USA. This will make the company the first and sole supplier capable of offering both film and spray fluoropolymer coating technologies. These are both used in elastomeric closures for injectable drugs.

Dätwyler, a leading provider of high-quality, system-critical elastomer components from Altdorf in the canton of Uri, is showcasing its self-developed UltraShield film coating technology from April 25 to 27 in the USA. At Interphex and CPHI North America, two trade fairs for pharmaceutical supply chain innovations, Dätwyler will present itself as the first and sole supplier capable of offering both film and spray fluoropolymer coating technologies for elastomeric closures that are required for injectable drugs.

As the company writes in a press release, UltraShield forms a protective barrier that reduces drug-stopper interaction. Its chemical and functional properties have been specifically developed for the safe storage of drugs at extremely low temperatures of up to minus 80 degrees Celsius and for compatibility with modern solvent-based drug excipients.

With this expanded range of coating options, the company is aiming to meet the highest quality and performance requirements for large and sensitive molecule drugs. “We want to become the most valued partner for parenteral packaging to the pharmaceutical industry”, explains Dirk Borghs, CEO of Dätwyler, in the press release. ce/mm
