Schaffhausen – Industrial corporation Georg Fischer is joining forces with 3D Systems from the USA. This partnership will enable the companies to jointly develop manufacturing solutions based on 3D printing.

The cooperation will bring together the specialism of GF Machining Solutions in metal manufacturing and expertise of 3D Systems in metals additive manufacturing, it was reported in a press release. GF Machining Solutions is a division of the Georg Fischer industrial corporation from Schaffhausen. The aim of the partnership is to develop a new generation of 3D printing solutions. Workflow solutions will be made more efficient through the integration of 3D printers, materials, software and electrical discharge machining (EDM) as well as milling and laser equipment. This will reduce production time and lower the total cost of operation.

The plan is to launch this partnership at the International Manufacturing Technology Show in September in the USA, where the company is expected to unveil a new and commonly developed additive manufacturing machine. Further combined solutions will follow over the next few years. The machines will be distributed through the sales networks of the two partners.

“With the combined experience and expertise of 3D Systems and GF Machining Solutions we are well positioned to bring to our customers new manufacturing solutions based on 3D printing,” said Yves Serra, CEO of Georg Fischer.

3D Systems was co-founded in 1986 by Charles Hull, inventor of 3D printing, and is based in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
