Zurich – GET LOCAL, a startup from the Greater Zurich Area, has become the first non-German company to be nominated as a finalist for a Hotelverband Deutschland award. The company has also raised new capital, with its sights now set on expansion into Germany.

GET LOCAL provides a concierge platform for hotel guests with bookable offers that also prove attractive to locals. With the platform, which is currently used by hotels in Zurich, Basel and Vienna, the startup company seeks to help tourists avoid typical tourist traps.

Now, GET LOCAL is planning to expand into Germany. It has got off to a good start by becoming the first non-Germany company to be nominated as a finalist for the Hotelverband Deutschland’s (IHA) Startup Award. The award promotes practical digital product developments for the hotel industry in Germany and provides direct access to the industry for startup companies.

“Attending the IHA annual conference was a great opportunity for us to showcase our company and digitalization concept for tourism destinations to the entire German hotel sector elite,” commented Stefan Neukom, founder and CEO of GET LOCAL, in a statement.

He added that at the conference, the startup made “valuable contacts” and is now in discussions with “interested hoteliers and tourism organizations in Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin and Hamburg”.

In another successful move towards expansion, GET LOCAL recently raised new capital and strengthened its board.
