GetYourGuide has passed several milestones with its platform for booking excursions and activities. In August, it achieved over one million bookings for the first time in a single month, and on September 25, it crossed the threshold of 20 million bookings since it was founded in 2009.
The startup, which offers trips to more than 7,000 destinations, is now strengthening operations with a new board member, announced a statement. Sharon McCollam, formerly Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer at the American electronics trader Best Buy, will join the management team to help drive the company’s growth.
GetYourGuide was founded as a spinoff from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). Last year, it raised 75 million dollars in a financing round, with the funds helping expand the team in Zurich. The company is headquartered in Berlin and has offices in Switzerland, as well as Germany and 13 other countries.
