Pfäffikon - The cable manufacturer Huber+Suhner from the canton of Zurich is expanding its megawatt charging technology offering. The new cooled system RADOX MCS1500 enables continuous charging currents of up to 2,250 kilowatts at 1,500 amps for electric heavy-duty vehicles.

The cable manufacturer Huber+Suhner has announced the launch of a new cooled charging cable that ensures especially high charging currents. It is designed for refueling electric heavy-duty vehicles. The company is now officially presenting the cable, which is almost the same thickness as an arm and is described as a “breakthrough in megawatt charging”, at two trade fairs: from Jun 11 to 14 at the EVS36 in Sacramento, California, and from June 14 to 16 at the Power2Drive in Munich.

According to a press release from the company, the RADOX MCS1500 has successfully completed several field tests, according to which it provides continuous charging currents of up to 2,250 kilowatts at 1,500 amps. The information provided states that Huber+Suhner is already developing a solution for 4,500 kilowatts at 3,000 amps.

Max Goeldi, Vice President Market Management HPC, commented: “With the development of the RADOX MCS1500, we are once again one step ahead, establishing our leadership in the emerging megawatt charging market.” Stefan Buri, Vice President Market Management Industrials, describes it as the “missing link between vehicle and infrastructure” and promises to enable customers to provide “a safe, efficient and ultra-fast charging experience for heavy duty vehicles.” ce/mm
