Zurich/Hong Kong - MAN Energy Solutions and Anglo-Eastern, the world’s largest ship management company, have entered into an innovation partnership. MAN Energy Solutions will supply digital solutions and test innovative products. In return, Anglo-Eastern will offer industry insights for business and operations.

MAN Energy Solutions from Zurich and Anglo-Eastern Ship Management have agreed terms on an innovation partnership, which is scheduled to run for at least two years. The cooperation agreement covers aspects including the exchange of data and knowledge regarding the daily operation of engines, engine performance and maintenance, testing of digital products, development and creation of software, algorithms and APIs on an ongoing basis, further details of which can be found in a press release.

On behalf of MAN Energy Solutions, Stig Holm, Head of Marine & Power Digital Denmark, put pen to paper on the agreement: “We are very happy to have entered this project with such an able partner as Anglo-Eastern. For our part, we will get invaluable industry insight from a major, maritime ship-management organization with substantial knowledge of the daily and strategic operation of a large fleet of diverse vessel types”, he comments in the press release. Holm also explains that the agreement will allow new products to be tested and will facilitate “operational feedback from crew and technical shore-staff alike”.

According to information from the company itself, MAN Energy Solutions is the world’s largest supplier of large-bore diesel and gas engines as well as turbomachinery, including a range of alternative drive technologies designed to reduce fuel consumption. Moreover, the company is also developing new storage technologies and digital tools for industrial processes

Anglo-Eastern, headquartered in Hong Kong, has 650 vessels under full technical management and more than 250 subject to crew management arrangements. At the end of 2018, it was the world’s largest ship management company as measured by total number of vessels.
