Herrliberg ZH – German online retailer Mercateo has created a Swiss subsidiary in the Greater Zurich Area. From this new base, it now plans to serve the market of Switzerland. To this end, it has also launched a Swiss version of its procurement platform.

Mercateo sells office and IT supplies, business and warehouse equipment as well as products for the construction sector, trade, electrical engineering and agriculture to companies via its platform. At the start of this year, the Munich-based company established the national subsidiary Mercateo Schweiz GmbH in Switzerland, as was reported in a press release.

The new subsidiary is located in Herrliberg and run by Thomas Dinkel as Country Manager in Switzerland. “We have big plans for Mercateo in Switzerland, because this market is an important part of our internationalization strategy,” commented Dinkel. Mercateo is now launching the Swiss website www.mercateo.ch, where around two million products will be available to buy for companies in Switzerland.

“By founding this national subsidiary, we are demonstrating a clear commitment to the Swiss market,” explains Peter Ledermann, Executive Board member at Mercateo. This move takes the company a step closer to its target: “We want our platform to be the common denominator in European procurement, to set the standard and consequently create added value for our customers and suppliers.”
