Orchestra has won the top prize at the Boldbrain Startup Challenge. The company is developing a digital solution for rescue and protection services. The competition also awarded four other startups working on solutions such as for the analysis of PDFs or ironing for travelers.

The Boldbrain Startup Challenge announced its winners this week. The overall winner of the Ticino competition was Orchestra, a startup company from Massagno in the canton of Ticino. It is working on a solution to facilitate the work of rescue and protection services.

Alarms are often sent manually by phone while vital information is processed with pen and paper. Orchestra is digitalizing these processes to make them more efficient. As winner, the startup received 50,000 Swiss francs in cash plus a full scholarship from the Executive MBA at the University of Lugano (USI) worth 45,000 francs.

LocalPoint from Porza in Ticino secured second place and a cash prize of 30,000 francs. The company is developing a platform to pull data from PDF documents. In third place was MANO from Bissone, also in Ticino, winning 20,000 francs. It is developing a wireless glove for ironing that users can take travelling. Fourth place and fifth place were worth 10,000 francs and were scooped by Qikle from Zurich and LAVATAZZINE A VAPORE respectively. Qikle is developing a free digital wallet and LAVATAZZINE A VAPORE has invented a solution to wash porcelain with steam.

The Boldbrain Startup Challenge is organized by Fondazione Agire in collaboration with the USI Start-Up Promotion Center.
