Inhabitants of the Canton of Schaffhausen can now request, pay for, receive, and store official documents on their cell phone using the eID+ app. This is possible due to expansion of the platform by the supplier, Procivis, which is based in Zurich.
The relevant authorities create the desired statement, provide a legally valid signature, and subsequently send the document back via the user’s app, Procivis explains in a press release.
Titus Fleck, Head of eGovernment for the Canton of Schaffhausen, says: “The newly launched functions of the Schaffhausen eID+, together with the option of signing documents with an organization certificate, facilitate the direct exchange of valid digital documents between authorities and inhabitants. This is an important milestone in developing our eGovernment offering.”
Procivis states that the additional functions are an important step in forming eID+ into a comprehensive platform for digital public services. The foundations area also said to have been laid for the ability to receive push notifications, which the population could use to stay informed.
Daniel Gasteiger, CEO of Procivis, adds: “Even in times of increased physical distancing, we can use eID+ to help us stay close to the population and to ensure that official processes run seamlessly.”
