Schneider Electric and Stäubli have agreed to integrate the customized Stäubli TS series four-axis SCARA robots into Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure system architecture and platform.
The partnership will benefit industrial customers in two main ways, according to a statement released by the electrotechnology corporation.
Firstly, it will be easier to programme robot movements thanks to a common programming language. Secondly, the Lexium STS robots will be fully integrated into Schneider Electric’s PacDrive motion control system, thus reducing the interfaces, wiring effort and installation space required.
“Our architecture enables machine builders to design smart machines through advanced digital technologies and open standards and so reduce their time-to-market and engineering costs, while improving machine performance,” explained Ali Haj Fraj, SVP Machine Solutions, Industry Business Schneider Electric, in the statement.
Stäubli provides mechatronics solutions for the connectors, robotics and textile sectors. The company is active in 50 countries worldwide and is headquartered in Pfäffikon in the canton of Schwyz in the Greater Zurich Area.
