Stäfa - Sonova has launched a medical app for tinnitus patients. At present, the SilentCloud app is available in Italy and Belgium. It allows people with tinnitus, most often characterized by an irritating ringing in the ears, to alleviate symptoms themselves. Users can also access advice from trained hearing experts.

Sonova, one of the top hearing aid companies in the world, has launched an app to alleviate tinnitus symptoms. The digital application is currently available in Italy and Belgium and will be rolled out in other countries over the course of the year, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the company based in Stäfa in the canton of Zurich.

Accordingly, the app solution, which is available on a subscription model basis, offers a range of proven therapies for users to independently alleviate the symptoms of tinnitus. At least one in ten people suffers from tinnitus. Of these, 20 percent of those affected find the symptoms such as ringing and whirring in their ears so disturbing that they are forced to seek medical treatment. The majority of those affected also experience some degree of hearing loss.

“By providing options for managing a co-existing medical need, the app will support Sonova’s strategic goal to reach more people with hearing loss and to engage with them earlier in their hearing care journey”, comments Christophe Fond, Group Vice President Audiological Care at Sonova, in the press release.

Cognitive behavioral and sound therapy combined with education and consulting promise to provide a degree of relief to patients. SilentCloud also offers users the opportunity to access advice from trained hearing experts.

Launched by the Audiological Care division, SilentCloud is part of an expanded portfolio of holistic hearing care services that “supports Sonova’s innovation of the consumer journey”, as the company explains in the press release. ko
