Dividat, the medtech company based in Schindellegi in the canton of Schwyz, is expanding its partnership with medica, a German company based in Hochdorf. According to a press release issued by medica, the company will now include the Dividat senso in its portfolio of training equipment offered under the brand THERA-Trainer, where the Dividat senso is now listed as THERA-Trainer senso. In addition, Dividat has actually been offering THERA-Trainer rehab equipment for quite some time now as well. The now strengthened cooperation is intended to expand the sales network for the senso internationally.
As also explained in a video, the senso sets new stimuli to specifically promote the interaction between body and mind. Above all, the training device aims to improve walking safety and reduce the risk of falls. According to Dividat, it is of particular benefit to Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, MCI, multiple sclerosis and stroke patients. In addition, the device is used for orthopedic rehab and promotes athletic performance.
The prototype of the senso was developed as part of a PhD project completed in 2011 by Eva van het Reve at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). In 2013, a study into an improved device produced a significant improvement for people who, in addition to physical exercises, also solved cognitive tasks using the senso. Following this, Dividat was founded as a spin-off from ETH Zurich.
“We are very pleased to be working with a long-term partner, THERA-Trainer, who has recognized the genius of this training approach. Thanks to THERA-Trainer's international sales network, we are able to offer our patients around the world optimal therapy with the THERA-Trainer senso”, explains Dividat CEO Joris van het Reve in the press release. mm
