The School of Business at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) has received an accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). According to a press release, this accreditation honors business schools with particularly high standards of quality and societal influence. Only around five percent of all business schools worldwide are accredited by AACSB.
One condition for attaining the accreditation is that the business school must “have a clear mission and demonstrably employ first-class teaching methods”, FHNW writes in the press release. Processes must be geared towards the needs and challenges of practice and science, while partners from the fields of industry and science stand to benefit from the research, publication and consulting activities of the university thanks to targeted knowledge and technology transfers.
The accreditation makes the School of Business at FHNW “even more attractive for international student mobility and enables students in Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees access to international partner universities”, the press release explains. Moreover, the AACSB label ensures that alumni are afforded improved possibilities on the international jobs market.
Ursula Renold, Chair of the University Board, explains in the press release how the AACSB accreditation underlines the appeal of the FHNW School of Business in the areas of teaching and research. She also commented that this reputation will allow the region of Northwestern Switzerland as a whole to benefit as a location for business, education and innovation.
The FHNW School of Business is located in Olten in the canton of Solothurn.
