Altdorf - Detail conception and infrastructure planning can start on the grounds of Werkmatt Uri: Cantonal Minister Urban Camenzind signed the building rights agreement for two construction areas on January 25. The canton and project developers now plan to start with multifunctional development on these sites.

The Cantonal Minister and Director of Economic Affairs for the canton of Uri, Urban Camenzind, has formally signed the first building rights agreement for the Werkmatt Uri area at a press event on January 25. This means that detail conception and infrastructure planning can now start.

According to a press release, the cantonal minister highlighted the importance of the project for the entire canton at the event. The investor is Christoph Schoop Gruppe from Dättwil in the canton of Aargau. Werkmatt Uri AG will also be involved in the project as an investor and project developer. Camenzind adds that the fact that the project leaders are planning an investment of this scale “is also a reflection of the attractiveness of the area and not least the canton of Uri”. The Zurich-based architects Galli & Rudolf are responsible for the planning and implementation phases. The process is receiving strategic support from QUANT, an innovation, development, and implementation workshop based in Flims in the canton of Graubünden.

The canton plans to develop the entire industrial area spanning a total of 120,000 square meters. This will create new jobs and added value. According to the joint vision, constructions fields 9 and 13 will “become a relaxed meeting place with true, exceptional experiences for work and creativity”.

The integral concept envisages a combination of meeting areas, a work hotel with up to 80 rooms, co-working space, areas for business and culture, gastronomy, and retail outlets. It is to be seamlessly integrated into the environment and “provide an understated surprise, reduced to the essentials but with fine details”.

The area spanning twelve hectares is the last large land reserve in Uri’s Talboden valley. Around eight hectares are up for sale or available for building rights south-west of the cantonal train station in Altdorf. The canton of Uri is responsible for both. mm
