Helion has opened its own training center. According to a press release issued by the energy solutions provider, the Helion TrainingCenter will provide future energy industry professionals with a hands-on learning experience that “recreates the experience of being on a real building site”. The training center comprises a model family home with full-size sloping and flat roofs. It has capacity to train over 200 solar experts and run 50 training courses every year.
The company aims to offer eight to ten apprenticeships a year. Those transitioning from other careers will also be able to qualify as solar specialists through adult education courses. By combining photovoltaics, electromobility, bidirectional charging and heat pumps, the center will be able to train specialists for both the energy and mobility sectors. “Both of these sectors will shape the future,” says Anja Bates, Head of HR at AMAG Group. Helion is part of AMAG.
The 200-square-meter site will offer the largest learning environment for renewable energies in Switzerland. Frank Rutschmann, Head of Renewable Energies at the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, said the training center would meet the “urgent demand for high-quality specialists”, who are “our capital for the expansion of renewable energies”.
Helion has been training new staff, including many transferring from other career paths, on its own initiative for the past four years. The new staff took part in a two-week course before the solar training course for “Solar installers and fitters with Swiss federal VET certificate” was established. This course laid the foundations for the in-house Helion TrainingCenter, which is supported by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy and the canton of Solothurn. ce/heg
