Biberist SO – Switzerland’s first digital marketplace for medical products, implants and services is soon to launch. Hystrix medical has secured well-known hospitals and suppliers – and is already planning to expand abroad.

Hystrix medical aims to optimize processes at the interface of procurement and sales between hospitals, clinics, homes and medical practices, writes the startup company from the Greater Zurich Area in a statement. Its marketplace allows providers of medical products, implants and services to sell to customers directly, which is particularly attractive for products that otherwise require costly compatible services and usually have low margins.

For providers, the result is hugely simplified marketing. As well as gaining real-time access to market information, they can react to specific customer needs thanks to bidding rounds. "The hystrix medical marketplace offers us an intuitive, timely and convenient platform for our services,” commented Fabio Cirillo, Managing Director of Avanti Europe, in the statement.

In turn, customers are guaranteed market prices and simplified procurement processes. “The hystrix medical marketplace will help us as a key element to generate within a few clicks market transparency in procurement,” added Philippe Linder, Head of Purchasing and Logistics at Lucerne Cantonal Hospital.

Hystrix medical was founded in 2017. Its shareholders include Zühlke Ventures as institutional investor. It plans to expand its market presence to Germany, Austria and Great Britain in 2019.
