Kistleris investing in Winterthur. According to a press release from the international specialist in measurement technology and sensors, a smart factory will be built on a plot of land next to the former headquarters. There, state-of-the-art production processes will be combined with a high level of automation. Kistler additionally plans to develop the world’s largest production for piezoelectric sensors at the new factory.
Group CEO Rolf Sonderegger commented in the press release: “We believe in Switzerland as a workplace. This is why Kistler is investing in Winterthur, and establishing the foundation for future growth.” After completion of the smart factory, the company will consolidate its employees, who are currently spread across three sites in Winterthur, into one location. This move is scheduled to take place in 2028.
Kistler signed the contract to acquire the plot of land on August 30. No information is provided on the purchase price for the area spanning almost 20,000 square meters in the press release. However, Kistler states that it was important to the former owner to sell the property to a local industrial company to strengthen Winterthur as an economic region. ce/hs
