Two companies headquartered in Solothurn have performed exemplary work in the area of the circular economy. Marti AG has won the Solothurn Business Award (SUP), which comes with prize money of 20,000 Swiss francs, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the canton of Solothurn. The start-up publicXdata was chosen as the most popular newcomer in a public vote.
In her speech, jury member Dr. Doris Aebi praised Marti AG for playing a pioneering role in the transition from disposal to sorting and recycling of recyclable materials. Marti AG is driving the development and production of innovative building materials made from recycled mineral materials at its innovation center for construction materials.
The SUP was awarded for the 25th time by the Canton of Solothurn, the Cantonal Trade Association of Solothurn and the Solothurn Chamber of Commerce. The challenges associated with climate change and pollution of the environment provide background context to the prize. Founded almost 100 years ago, Marti AG and its 500 employees implement construction projects in Switzerland and other European countries. The award winner is said to have recognized the importance of the circular economy for the construction industry as far back as 60 years ago. In 1960, for example, the parent company founded a subsidiary focused on returning old construction materials to the use cycle.
The public were also able to vote online for the Newcomer of the Year 2023 advertised by the canton. The start-up publicXdata AG won the award with 54 percent of the votes. Based in Solothurn, the company develops standardized financial management tools for public organizations. heg
