Maximon AG from Zug is investing 10 million Swiss francs in the Longevity Co-Investment Fund that it is responsible for managing. The new investment volume has therefore been raised to 30 million Swiss francs, also due to additional investments from European family offices and private investors, further details of which can be found in a press release. The target volume is actually 100 million Swiss francs. Furthermore, the Board of Directors will be strengthened by the addition of Christoph Schwarzenbach.
The funds serve to build healthcare start-ups dedicated to extending the period of time in which people can live in good health and free of age-related diseases. Maximon has already built and financed four such longevity companies, as such enterprises are known, including Avea and Biolytical.
Maximon intends to use the fresh capital to set up two more companies this year. Over the next four years, another twelve or so will be added. Each of these is to receive funding of up to 10 million Swiss francs. “The scientific advances are huge - entrepreneurship is now required to turn research results into products”, comments Elisabeth Roider, partner and Chief Medical Officer at Maximon, in the press release.
The Board of Directors at Maximon is now set to be strengthened by the addition Christoph Schwarzenbach. He is Senior Partner at the family office FINAD. As such, an “experienced investor and asset manager” will now join the Board of Directors at Maximon. ce/ko
