The German logistics firm Rhenus and the Zug-based start-up SkyCell have entered into a partnership. According to a press release, the partners intend to jointly expand their product portfolio in the fields of life sciences and healthcare.
SkyCell has developed a smart container for the transportation of temperature-sensitive goods, which is equipped with sensors that provide real-time data on temperature or humidity levels. The container can also predict potential problems due to its connection with a software solution. According to Rhenus, the start-up’s containers reduce the overall risks associated with the air transport of sensitive drugs. In addition, the automated approval functionality helps to cut the quality approval time from an average of several days to just a few hours.
Rhenus und SkyCell are already on familiar terms with one another from pre-existing partnerships. For example, the logistics firm operates service centers for SkyCell in the UK and Germany. “We’re proud to be working with SkyCell and we’re looking forward to expanding our collaboration arrangement in the near future”, comments Stephan Dülk, Global Head of Life Sciences and Health Care at Rhenus Air & Ocean, in the press release.
SkyCell launched its solution on the market in 2013. Since then, the company has closed a succession of financing rounds, during which it was also able to gain investors from the Middle East and China. ssp
