According to the Global FemTech Industry Report from the agency FemTech Analytics, Switzerland is a center for technology companies focusing on women’s health. It stands out in particular for FemTech firms specializing in longevity. As such, according to the information provided, over half of all such companies from continental Europe are located in Switzerland. Switzerland has a global market share of 13 percent of all FemTech companies specializing in longevity, coming in second place after the USA (58 percent).
The report also provides an overview of the number of FemTech companies in Switzerland. Zurich comes first in this respect with 14 companies, followed by the cantons of Vaud, Geneva, and Bern. According to the report, a total of 33 FemTech companies are based in Switzerland.
However, Switzerland also scores highly with the number of organizations and networks supporting the promotion of FemTech. As such, 14 percent of the global total of these institutes are located in Switzerland. This places Switzerland in third, behind the USA (32 percent) and the UK (23 percent). Overall, the report states that there are 15 FemTech organizations and 37 investors with a corresponding focus that are active in Switzerland.
Additionally, according to information from the report, 398 million US dollars has been invested in Swiss FemTech companies to date, which puts Switzerland in fourth place on a global comparison.
Kate Batz, Director of FemTech Analytics, states: “The rapid rise of startups dedicated to women’s health in Switzerland has been phenomenal. FemTech is increasingly becoming a prosperous sector and a promising asset class for investors.” She adds that overall, Switzerland represents a great opportunity for both founders and investors in this sector.
