Switzerland remains the country that is best at developing its own talent, according to a press release from the IMD World Talent Ranking 2024 published by the Lausanne International Institute for Management Development (IMD). The 2024 rankings once again put Switzerland in first place out of 67 countries, with Singapore second and Luxembourg third.
Switzerland comes first for investment and development, first for appeal, and third for the readiness of its talent, according to the latest edition of the Talent Ranking. It also leads the way in terms of the quality of life it offers, the existence of a statutory minimum wage, and the effectiveness of its health infrastructure. The country ranks second for employee training in the private sector, first for implementation of apprenticeship programs, and second for the level of worker motivation.
However, Switzerland is stagnating in the indicator for prioritization of talent attraction and retention. The proportion of female workers (just 30 per cent of the total working population) is a relative weakness, and the country ranks 38th and 31st for the quality of its primary and secondary education respectively, according to the IMD.
The report adds that the percentage of graduates in sciences (26th place) and labor force growth (20th place) could also have a negative impact on Switzerland's talent competitiveness in the future. ce/gba
