The Zurich-based start-up UpCircle has launched its waste analysis platform that functions on the basis of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the market. This is intended to make it much easier to recycle materials that have been thrown away or discarded as waste. The concept for this dates back to a project from 2019 that was set up by the company’s three founders at the Robotic Systems Laboratory of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH).
According to a press release, with the help of the latest computer vision technology developed by ETH Zurich and machine learning processes, the UpCircle solution allows the collection and processing of waste to be analyzed in real time. In this way, e-recyclers, waste collectors and retailers can now make well-founded decisions as to which materials they send to recycling plants.
“UpCircle brings the most advanced AI-technology to the waste industry”, comments CEO and co-founder Dr. Hendrik Kolvenbach in the press release, adding that: “With our solution, we help customers outperform the competition and increase the efficiency of recycling processes”. In addition, the solution helps to cut operating costs as well.
UpCircle is presenting its solution at the GITEX Global trade fair from October 16 to 20 in Dubai. ce/mm
