Schlieren ZH – The simulator manufacturer VirtaMed has signed a two-year collaboration agreement with the Arthroscopy Association of North America. The agreement will make the Schlieren-based company the exclusive partner for virtual reality simulation medical training.

As a result of the partnership between VirtaMed and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), the Orthopedic Learning Center (OLC) in Rosemont in the U.S. state of Illinois will be equipped with ArthroS simulators produced by the Schlieren-based company.

“We have assessed all virtual reality arthroscopy simulators on the market, and VirtaMed was clearly the best fit to partner with AANA,” explained AANA CEO Laura Downes in a statement.

“The combination of lifelike anatomic models, high-fidelity graphics and original tools adapted for simulation make the VirtaMed ArthroS the closest thing to real surgery.”

The cooperation will also see the partners jointly develop new content for the simulators and a learning curriculum, after first gathering data on previous trainings. The aim is to create standards for arthroscopic training across the USA.

“We are honored to have been selected as the preferred and exclusive partner by such an influential organization,” commented Rick Hoedt, General Manager at VirtaMed Inc.

“With the various medtech customers and other societies we have as partners, it is further proof that our product and services lead the market in realism and that VirtaMed really is the go-to partner for surgical simulation.”

VirtaMed is headquartered in the Innovations- und Jungunternehmerzentrum IJZ and is a member of Start Smart Schlieren.
