Winterthur – The e-mobility company Designwerk from the Greater Zurich Area has presented its new fully electric 40-ton semi-trailer. It can manage a distance of 380 kilometers and has significantly lower operating costs than conventional semi-trailers.

Designwerk carries out the series production of its e-trucks at its new premises in Winterthur. According to a media release, the new Futuricum Semi 40E has now been presented at this location. Futuricum is a subsidiary of Designwerk, which was recently renamed Designwerk Products AG and has taken over production of all products of the parent company Designwerk Technologies GmbH.

The new 40-ton semi-trailer has 680 PS “even after electronic power restriction”. It has a payload up to 28 tons and can drive up to 380 kilometers at a stretch. The advantages include low operating costs and exemption from the Swiss Heavy Vehicle Fee tariff. In addition, the batteries of the e-truck can also be used to operate vehicle superstructures, making the new semi-trailer ideal for use in recycling, distribution, intra, construction, agriculture and forestry logistics.
