SIX is establishing a group-wide innovation unit, announced the SIX Group in a statement. The unit will bundle all the group’s existing innovation projects, with SIX developing “services to cover specific shareholders’ requirements”. On request, these can “be hived off in collaboration with the relevant shareholders”, according to the statement.

The company also plans to launch a venture fund worth 50 million Swiss francs to “promote innovation within Switzerland’s financial centre”.

Both measures are among the organizational changes to the group recently announced by the board of directors. The aim is to “strengthen the competitiveness of SIX and the Swiss financial centre in a changing business environment”.

All strategic and organizational changes are due to be implemented by the second quarter of next year.

In another move, SIX has appointed Dutch Jos Dijsselhof as its new CEO with effect from 2018. The experienced financial sector manager was most recently Chief Operating Manager and CEO ad interim for the stock exchange operator Euronext in Amsterdam. Dijsselhof succeeds Urs Rüegsegger, who announced his retirement in May.
