The award was presented by the Association of European Plastics Manufacturers and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE). It recognizes companies in the plastics industry that have developed innovative products.
EMS-GRIVORY won the award in the Hybrid Product category, announced a statement. The company won over the jury with its innovative Grilamid products, which the Canadian sports equipment manufacturer Arc'teryx uses to make ultra-lightweight ski touring boots suitable for difficult climbing routes and demanding descents.
The shell uses a specially modified, cold-impact strength Grilamid, which is characterized by very low density, good UV resistance, high surface quality and good flowability in injection moulding processes. It makes it possible to achieve a very thin-walled component.
The shell system for the uppers is made using long-carbon fibre-reinforced Grilamid, which has very high stiffness and strength, but also a very low density.
The award highlights that the products produced by the Grisons-based company provide a basis for innovative applications using high-performance polymers.
