Lachen SZ – Germany’s ISRA VISION AG is acquiring Photonfocus AG from the Greater Zurich Area, which specializes in industrial image processing technologies. ISRA VISION intends to focus on growth potential with embedded sensor technologies and in smart factory automation.

ISRA VISION AG is a supplier of surface inspection solutions for web materials and 3D machine vision applications. The German company is sourcing expertise from the canton of Schwyz: it is acquiring 100 percent of the shares in Photonfocus AG from Lachen. Photonfocus specializes in CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) image sensor technology. The company develops image sensors and industrial cameras for machine vision and optical metrology.

Through this acquisition, ISRA reports that it is expanding its strategic portfolio in the area of embedded sensor technologies. The company also plans to put a greater focus on smart factory automation. In particular, this will involve “linking 3D machine vision expertise with the automation of robots both in established markets like the automotive industry as well as in discrete industries in general”.
