From humble beginnings with just four employees, GIANTS Software has grown into a team of 74 today. This can be gleaned from an article by SRF on the software developer from Schlieren. The company has found great success with its Farming Simulator. An eSports league has now also been created for the game. In eSports, teams around the world play against each other in different games. Some competitions are streamed live on TV and professional gamers play for high prize money. The Farming Simulator is now among them.
The second day of gaming in the league has just taken place at gamescom, the world-renowned trade fair in Cologne. While players in eSports only meet each other online to compete, the various tournaments in the Farming Simulator League are events with a live audience. A total of 12 tournaments are being hosted by 12 different trade fairs. The second tournament in Cologne not only attracted those attending gamescom, but also had 200,000 viewers watching online around the world.
The league games feature two teams with three players each. They are given a field of wheat and 15 minutes to score as many points as possible by turning the wheat into bales and storing them in a barn. The points awarded to bales differ, with extra points for the first bale, for example. This means strategic thinking is essential to do well in this league for the Schlieren developer’s game.
