Ennenda GL – The sheet metal processing firm Hans Eberle is expanding its headquarters in Ennenda. This was made possible by a major contract awarded by Starbucks in particular. Hans Eberle manufactures casings for the coffee machines in use at the US coffee shop chain.

Hans Eberle offers services covering all aspects of sheet metal processing. The company’s products are used in shower trays, signposts, power box casings and locomotives. One of its major clients is the coffee shop chain Starbucks. Each month, Hans Eberle manufactures more than 1,000 casings for Starbucks coffee machines, as outlined in an article published in the newspaper “Südostschweiz”. The direct customer of Starbucks in this case is Thermoplan AG from the Canton of Lucerne. It builds and distributes the coffee machines for Starbucks. According to the article, Starbucks is equipping all of its coffee shops around the world with Swiss-made coffee machines.

Hans Eberle boasts cutting-edge machinery: It is the only company in Switzerland to have three Trumatic 7000 machines at its headquarters. “This is the Rolls-Royce of sheet metal processing machines”, explains Andreas Zweifel, CEO at Hans Eberle, in his comments to the newspaper. The machines are able to perform laser cutting and punch press processes at the same time. Moreover, reaming and threading processes can be completed in a single working step – all in fully automated fashion and at high speed.

The major contract from Starbucks has in particular allowed Hans Eberle to enjoy strong growth over the past few years. In 2012, the company employed around 100 staff. Today, this number has already grown to 160. And now the company is expanding further. According to “Südostschweiz”, a new two-story building at the company’s headquarters in Ennenda is being constructed. It is provisionally planned to open in the summer of 2021. Moreover, the power station on site is to be renovated. Zweifel explains: “The power station will allow us to deliver power independently to the building services for the entire project”. The new building is being built in line with the Minergie standard.
