Zurich – Kickstart Accelerator has launched the third edition of its programme in Zurich. Switzerland’s largest innovation acceleration programme, it initiates successful partnerships between startups, established companies and institutions.

Initiated by digitalswitzerland in 2015, Kickstart Accelerator has now opened the application phase for its third edition, with a focus on deep technologies. It aims to bring together startups in artificial intelligence, big data or blockchain with interested partner companies or partner institutions.

“The first two programmes resulted in over 30 ambitious proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and collaborations,” Kickstart co-lead Katka Letzing said in a statement. “In our view, genuine and sustainable innovation is only possible through cooperation across sector and company boundaries. That’s why we are focusing even more on these partnerships this year.”

Startups have until 27 May to apply for the third edition of Kickstart Accelerator. The best 30 will make it into the programme, which consists of several levels.

As in the past, this year’s Kickstart Accelerator is run by Impact Hub Zurich. The programme can also count on key partner such as Coop, Credit Suisse, Migros and Swisscom, as well as AXA Winterthur, the city of Zurich, ETH Zurich, EY, Gebert Rüf Stiftung, Mercator Foundation Switzerland, Stäubli, Swisslinx and the University of Zurich.

“Looking back at the success of the past two years of Kickstart Accelerator, Credit Suisse has benefited tremendously from the ideas and technologies generated through this programme,” said Thomas Saler, Digital Solutions – Head of Fintech Partnerships at Credit Suisse (Switzerland) Ltd.
