Zug building materials manufacturer LafargeHolcim is rolling out ECOPact worldwide. The product range has already been successfully introduced in a number of European countries, including France and Germany. Now, it is to be offered in North and Latin America as well as other markets, it was reported in a press release.
LafargeHolcim CEO Jan Jenisch explains that this is “the industry’s broadest range of green concrete for high-performing, sustainable and circular construction”. Products in the portfolio boast carbon emissions that are between 30 percent and 100 percent lower than those of standard (CEM I) concrete. They integrate upcycled construction and demolition materials, for example. This further closes the resource loop.
According to the press release, LafargeHolcim is dedicating 50 percent of its innovation resources to low carbon solutions. As a result, 40 percent of its patents are currently in this area. Innovations include the Susteno brand of cement, the first and only resource-saving cement in Europe.
