Zurich – The University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich is launching Switzerland’s first master’s degree course for compliance managers with a focus on the financial markets. In this way, it aims to address the needs of Switzerland as a financial centre.

The regulatory pressure within the financial sector is constantly increasing. However, compliance management is still above all being handled by individuals with legal or economic backgrounds. Until now, there has not been a specific further education option at master’s level in the field of compliance management that focuses on the financial markets in Switzerland. This is being addressed by the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich (HWZ). In November 2018, this master’s degree course will be launched at the university of applied sciences.

“Discussions with representatives from the world of business have shown me that in the banking centre of Zurich there is a real gap in the market for further education in compliance focusing on the financial sector,” explained Professor Daniel Jositsch, who was instrumental in creating this master’s and will be teaching the course. According to HWZ, this degree aims to provide students “with the skills required to establish and manage an optimal compliance structure in the financial sector”. Students will analyse the opportunities and risks of future regulatory challenges and initiate appropriate measures in good time.
