With its Rieter Campus construction project, Rieter is sending a clear sign of commitment to the location of Winterthur as well as to Switzerland as a leading center of industry, the textiles machinery manufacturer writes in a press release. On Wednesday, the foundation stone for the new customer and technology center as well as an administrative building was laid. The company, which has been based in Winterthur for 225 years, is investing around 80 million Swiss francs in the construction project.
From 2024 onwards, the Rieter Campus is set to offer a floor area of over 30,000 square meters with space for around 700 workplaces. For this purpose, Rieter worked together with a specialist in office architecture to develop an open plan room concept. In addition, Rieter will be turning to renewables energies to heat the complex. This will include generating heat via geothermal probes and a photovoltaic system covering approximately 1,300 square meters of roof area. “In this way, the entrepreneurial focus on sustainable and energy-efficient solutions for yarn production is reflected in the overall concept of the Campus”, explains CEO Norbert Klapper in the press release.
Over the course of its company history spanning more than two centuries, Rieter has played a part of shaping the city of Winterthur, according to Bernhard Jucker, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “The foundation for the future as a leading technology company is now being created with the new Campus”, he comments.
