The University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons celebrated its first University Day on Tuesday. Innovation was the at the heart of the event, a topic that is very important at the university. The University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons is working together with local companies, research institutions and the government to make the applicability of the projects as high as possible. It above all hopes to support technology-based companies and the tourism sector in innovation. Researchers at the university draw on external scientific findings and apply these in research projects that are focused on the requirements of regional companies. “Through our activities, we have adopted an antenna function for the benefit of the region,” said Jürg Kessler, President of the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons.
In the course of the first University Day, several innovation projects were also presented. These included the RenoRent project, which is dedicated to the problem of second homes in need of renovation. This project also led to the formation of a startup. Another project is about the use of service robots in caring for the elderly, for which an interdisciplinary project team is working together with the business partner F&P Robotics, whose headquarters are in Opfikon in Zurich.
