Zurich has an artificial intelligence ecosystem that is unique in the world. Nowhere else can you find so much cutting-edge research, start-ups, and innovative companies in such a small area. Bringing all important actors together, the AI+X Summit shows how much of a leader the region has become in this field: Annually, over 2000 researchers, students, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders meet to discuss trends and business models in artificial intelligence.
The event organized by the ETH AI Center took place in October this year. With 110 professorships, the university research center is one of the world's leading institutes. "We want to establish Switzerland as one of the best global locations for this new key technology," says Alexander Ilic, co-founder and managing director of the ETH AI Center.
The importance of AI is immense, and leading researchers are convinced that artificial intelligence will similarly shape society to how the internet or smartphones already have. Alexander Ilic sees an essential prerequisite for this: Even smaller companies should have access to critical technologies. The AI+X Summit is the perfect occasion for research and business to exchange information, insights and possibilities on key technologies on an interdisciplinary basis.
For the two AI Experts Jennifer Wadsworth (ETH AI Center) and Klaus Fuchs (Rockstar Recruiting AG) it is out of question that Zurich continues to go for leadership in artificial intelligence: “Historically, Zurich has always been a hub for innovation.” Klaus Fuchs is convinced that Zurich has what it takes to be a global hub for researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors in AI. "Everything is within a mile’s radius," he adds.
