The nascent Zurich-based start-up Timly has entered into a partnership with the Swiss unicorn Scandit, which is also based in Zurich. As Timly explains in a press release, its digital inventory management solution already uses the barcode scanners developed by Scandit. These can be used for intelligent data collection in smartphones, drones, digital glasses and robots, for example.
According to the information in the press release, these allow barcodes, text, IDs and objects to be scanned three times more rapidly than is the case with conventional solutions. The scanners are designed to capture barcode data precisely even in difficult lighting conditions or from tricky angles, while even damaged labels can be accurately scanned too. Moreover, the software developed by Timly, a start-up founded in 2020, can report problems, store files and documents for individual objects and assign inventory to specific employees with different access rights.
With the mobile computer vision technology from Scandit, which was founded in 2009 and operates worldwide, Timly wants to enable its customers including Siemens, Sodastream, Bayer and Euromaster to manage their inventories even more efficiently. “The Swiss innovation scene is strong and produces great technologies, such as Scandit”, comments Philipp Baumann, co-founder of Timly, in the press release, before adding that thanks to Scandit the company is now able to “pass on more of the strengths of the Swiss Innovation scene to our customers”.
