Solothurn - QUMEA's early warning system for fall protection has made the leap to Germany, Finland, and Sweden. In Switzerland, more than 30 hospitals and care facilities are already using the intelligent motion sensors. Now, Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich is joining them.

QUMEA is expanding with its early warning system for fall protection. Caritas-Krankenhaus St.Josef in Regensburg will be the first German hospital to use QUMEA’s intelligent motion sensors, according to a press release from the healthtech startup from Solothurn. QUMEA has also won tenders in Sweden and Finland as well.

QUMEA’s CEO and Co-Founder Cyrill Gyger commented in the press release: “The subject of fall prevention is attracting a great deal of attention, particularly in northern countries.” This is why the startup established in 2019 opened a branch in Stockholm in May last year.

More than 30 hospitals and care facilities in Switzerland are already using QUMEA’s high-tech yet inconspicuous system, which can increase the safety of patients at risk of falls with full anonymity. Now, five wards at Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich are joining their ranks. It initially tested the technology during a pilot phase. Clinic Director Marco Gugolz commented in the press release: “Besides a significant decrease in falls, the system also led to great assurance for nursing staff and simultaneously helped us to save significant costs with regard to patient monitoring.” hs
