Megasol Energie from Deitingen in the canton of Solothurn has been named as the winner of this year’s Export Award. The award is presented on an annual basis by Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE), the official Swiss consultancy, promotion and platform organization for export and investment promotion, to an international SME that impresses the jury with its expansion strategies, the transparency of its internationalization concept, and a consistent and successful implementation. In addition to Megasol, the textiles manufacturer Dagsmejan from Zurich and Stratron, a specialist in the field of uninterruptible power supply solutions and battery systems from Mägenwil in the canton of Aargau, were the other finalists up for the award.
Founded in 1993, Megasol Energie is a leading, pan-European manufacturer of solar modules and smart installation systems. It specializes in the customer-specific mass production of building-integrated photovoltaics. According to a press release issued by S-GE, the company is the world’s only manufacturer with the capacity to supply any module in any size, shape, color, glass surface and structure. These are developed and manufactured by 155 employees at the Deitingen site and have proven to be extremely popular among leading architects such as Herzog & de Meuron and Shigeru Ban.
The independent, honorary jury was made up of renowned figures from the worlds of business, science and media in Switzerland. According to jury president Ralph Siegl, Megasol Energie impressed with its scalable model that is “built on market-oriented development and highly efficient production in Switzerland, and demonstrates forward-looking risk management with a global perspective”. ce/mm
