Manno/Lincoln - xFarm Technologies and the UK agricultural enterprise Dyson Farming have launched a three-year project to digitize agriculture. Together, the work across an area of 33,600 acres will be managed and organized digitally.

Based in Manno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland, xFarm Technologies is joining forces with Dyson Farming, one of the largest agricultural firms in the UK, which is based in Lincoln. The project, which is set to run for a period of three years, involves the digitization of 33,600 acres of land using a specially developed platform that will collect and process data for Dyson Farming’s management and record keeping, further details of which can be found in a press release. The project will also network agricultural machinery and equipment in order to track their use and increase efficiency, as the company writes further.

With 36,000 acres of farmland across the counties of Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, West Berkshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire, Dyson Farming is one of the largest agricultural operations in the UK. The focus is on sustainability and technology-led innovation, as the press release states. Almost 1,000 fields, 3,700 acres of natural green space, more than 100 warehouses and a fleet of more than 250 machines, including tractors and other farming equipment, are already registered on the platform developed by xFarm Technologies, the company explains.

“As a company founded by farmers for farmers, we at xFarm Technologies understand that the work of a farm is way more complex than one might think”, comments Matteo Vanotti, CEO of xFarm Technologies, in the press release. The research and development team, AI engineers and data scientists at the company “work every day to develop hardware and software solutions that enable us to support companies in the agri-food sector in every aspect of their work”, he adds.

A total of 70 employees from Dyson Farming and three teams from xFarm Technologies are involved in the project. ce/gba
