Zurich/Madrid - ANYbotics has combined its autonomous inspection robot with the ecosystem for machinery and robots from the global technology group GMV. Together, the two companies recently won a tender from the Spanish energy companies Elewit/Red Eléctrica.

ANYbotics, a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, and GMV have won a tender from Elewit, the innovation platform of the electricity grid operator Red Eléctrica Group and technology platform for the parent company Redeia, the world’s first transmission grid operator. The solution from ANYbotics and GMV is intended to bring industrial inspections in the energy sector to a new level.

According to a press release from ANYbotics, the tender was issued as part of the Advanced Substation Monitoring (ASUMO) project of the Madrid-based companies Elewit and Red Eléctrica. This aims to promote maximum efficiency throughout the entire life cycle of the grid assets needed to transport electricity, reducing both human and material resources in the process.

To this end, ANYbotics integrated ANYmal, its four-legged inspection robot designed for industrial facilities, with the uPathWay fleet platform developed by GMV, a global technology business group also based in Madrid. According to the information, within the framework of the project, Elewit demonstrated the practical benefits of autonomous inspection in real-world applications. A digital twin optimized remote operation and facilitated preventive and corrective maintenance with real-time alerts to protect assets in the transmission network.

“This partnership with ANYbotics marks a significant milestone in industrial automation”, states Ángel C. Lázaro, Head of the Robotics and Automation industrial sector at GMW. Founded in 1984, the company is active in the areas of aerospace, defense and cyber protection, in addition to the automotive industry and IT applications for government bodies and major corporations. Accordingly, the joint uPathWay-ANYmal solution can be used for logistics, inspections, monitoring, maintenance, control, transport and security, amongst others. ce/mm
