Atara Biotherapeutics has opened its first European office in Zug, announced the canton in its latest newsletter. The company is headquartered south of San Francisco and develops innovative therapies for cancer and autoimmune and viral diseases.
Also drawn by Zug’s attractive climate is the New York software firm ConsenSys, which has launched ConsenSys AG in the canton. The company’s founders had previously worked in Zug as co-initiators of Ethereum – a role in which they significantly contributed to the emergence of Crypto Valley, according to the newsletter. ConsenSys AG in Zug is now the ConsenSys Group’s global operative holding company. Its goal is to help shape the future by publicizing and using new decentralized systems and technologies.
With a Zug subsidiary plus showroom, Atracsys Interactive SA joins Atara Biotherapeutics and ConsenSys in the canton. The company from Western Switzerland develops new technologies for interactive digital signage. “Our products offer a unique user experience, which guarantees that every concept can be successfully implemented,” commented Paolo Mira, Key Account Manager at Atracsys Interactive SA. It values the “innovative, business-friendly climate in the canton of Zug”.
The last of the recent companies to settle in Zug are the global healthcare company Mylan, which has moved its Swiss headquarters from Zurich to Zug, and Transfero Swiss AG, a provider of investment solutions that seeks to offers its customers access to digital assets. It attributed its choice of Zug to the canton’s high concentration of crypto currency and blockchain technology companies and innovation-friendly regulation.
