Neura Robotics

NEURA Robotics, one of Europe’s most ambitious companies in humanoid robotics, chose Greater Zurich in 2025 as the location for its European Physical AI hub. Around 1,800 square meters will host research, development, and partner collaboration, with key parts of the humanoid robot 4NE1 developed here. The move marks an important step in NEURA’s international scaling and highlights Greater Zurich as a key location for next-generation robotics.

With its new R&D site on Zollikerstrasse, NEURA Robotics anchors a core part of its next growth phase in Switzerland. Spanning three floors, the space brings together Physical AI research, development, and partnerships. Development of the 4NE1 robot will be centralized in Greater Zurich, while production remains in Metzingen. The first 800 square meters have been operational since December 2025, with full completion planned for 2026.

The Greater Zurich tech hub, with its exceptional talent base, strong deep-tech community, is the ideal place to advance the next generation of humanoid systems and strategically accelerate our entire ecosystem.

A new robotics innovation hub for the Greater Zurich Area

The choice of Greater Zurich is no coincidence. The region combines high talent density, leading research, and close collaboration between academia and industry. At ETH Zurich’s Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems, ten independent labs focus on robotics and intelligent systems. With the Center for Robotics, ETH Zurich also operates a platform in Greater Zurich that trains talent and attracts experts from around the world.

For NEURA Robotics, the Greater Zurich hub is more than just another office. Founded in 2019, the company has quickly become one of Europe’s most visible players in cognitive and humanoid robotics. In January 2025, NEURA closed a €120 million Series B round. Bloomberg reported in June 2025 on plans for a significantly larger round as part of its humanoid strategy. TechCrunch had already positioned NEURA early on as an ambitious European player in cognitive robotics.

The expansion comes at a time of accelerated development. In June 2025, NEURA presented the third generation of 4NE1 and launched Neuraverse, a platform-like infrastructure for connected robotics. Reuters reported in November 2025 on a partnership with Schaeffler, aiming to integrate several thousand humanoids into production environments by 2035. In early 2026, collaborations with Bosch and Qualcomm followed. In March 2026, NEURA and the Technical University of Munich announced Europe’s largest scientific training center for Physical AI.

Greater Zurich Area as a leading location for robotics and Physical AI

For Greater Zurich, this investment sends a strong signal. This is not just a representative office, but a development hub for the next generation of humanoid systems. NEURA brings together research, product development, partnerships, and access to one of Europe’s densest robotics ecosystems, making Greater Zurich a place where Physical AI is built.
