BC Platforms from Zurich and the Californian health insurance provider Kaiser Permanente have won the Microsoft Health Innovation Award 2020 in the Reimagine Health category. According to a press release, they have enabled “a unique way of pairing clinical and genomic data on the same platform.” The aim is to improve the possibilities of precision medicine.
BC Platforms and Kaiser Permanente collaborated using Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, in which they created a virtual biobank framework into which information from several research centers could be securely integrated.
The award honors health organizations and their technology partners that use Microsoft applications in innovative ways to reimagine healthcare. This aims to enable care teams to improve operational outcomes or to protect health information.
Tero Silvola, CEO of BC Platforms, is quoted in the press release, saying: “We are delighted to have been recognized for this prestigious Microsoft Innovation Award in collaboration with Kaiser Permanente. Together we are striving to leverage precision medicine in order to shape the future of healthcare.”
