Clean water isn’t always guaranteed — it’s something we must protect. For Dr. Fajer Mushtaq, this realization came early. Born in Kashmir and raised in Delhi, she saw firsthand how access to safe water can’t be taken for granted. That experience led her to ETH Zurich, where she co-founded Oxyle, a Swiss deep-tech startup dedicated to eliminating PFAS "forever chemicals" from water. 

Autonomous mobility is on the rise, and Greater Zurich is swiftly emerging as a hotspot for this groundbreaking technology. We caught up with Oliver Nahon, Director of Operations at the Swiss Association for Autonomous Mobility (SAAM), to explore the dynamic ecosystem driving this growth.

Zurich/Dortmund - Hitachi Energy has been commissioned to deliver four converter stations to Amprion. The German transmission system operator will use these to transport wind energy from the North Sea coast to the Ruhr Region. In addition, Hitachi Energy is set to offer service solutions as well. The contract is valued at 2 billion euros.

Kloten/Schaffhausen/San José - Flughafen Zürich AG is investing in a pilot project involving a self-driving shuttle bus with space for nine people. According to current plans, this will be put into service in the next few months. The Californian pioneer WeRide has been selected as technology provider.

Zurich - Spitch has moved to a larger property within the City of Zurich. The specialist in speech and text dialogue systems for companies and authorities expects this step to enable it to meet the demands created by its transformation from a start-up to a global provider.

Kloten/Lugano - From 2027, Flughafen Zürich AG in the canton of Zürich will purchase 30,000 liters of solar diesel from Synhelion every year. The partners have signed a five-year offtake agreement. This solar diesel will be used to power special vehicles without electric drives.

Zurich - Embotech has raised 23.5 million Swiss francs in a Series B financing round. With this fresh capital injection, the supplier of autonomous driving solutions can further scale its technology for Automated Vehicle Marshalling at car factories and Autonomous Terminal Tractors at port terminals and logistic centers.
