Anil Varghese, Headsquarter

Over the past year, Headsquarter has attracted many innovative tech and AI companies. What makes your co-working space so appealing to these firms?

A central, urban location is the basic requirement for companies in this sector - and that’s exactly what our five sites offer. We also place a strong emphasis on product and service quality. This is key, as top tech and AI talent often operate in higher salary brackets and expect a workplace environment that meets their standards.

International tech companies also have particular demands regarding their workspace - from customized layouts to IT infrastructure and security measures. We cater to these individual needs and frequently modify our spaces to create optimal solutions.

What truly sets Headsquarter apart is our boutique approach: We remain independently owned and operate with short decision-making paths, personal on-demand support, and in-house IT services. This agile, human-scale setup is something our clients truly value. Over time, this has created a strong pull effect. New tech and AI sector companies are drawn in because others from their field are already here. They benefit from being close to like-minded peers and the synergies within our community.

How important are networks and community-building at Headsquarter? Do you offer events or programs to promote interaction?

We see ourselves as a workplace provider and a platform for collaboration and exchange. That’s why we feel a strong responsibility to create networking opportunities for our members. Among other things, we host optional weekly events where members can connect across industries.

We’re careful to maintain a healthy balance between encouraging community and respecting individual privacy so that all clients can enjoy a comfortable environment.

While conventional leases typically run for five years or more, we offer flexible terms ranging from six to 36 months - with the option to scale up mid-year.

Tech companies often have high demands on infrastructure and data security. How do you ensure your spaces meet those needs?

We respond specifically to our clients’ requirements and, when necessary, offer customized adaptations. This includes tailored IT infrastructure, high-security standards, and adjustments to the physical layout to accommodate specific technological or data protection needs.

A significant initial investment is often involved in developing these individual solutions - but it pays off in the long run, especially regarding customer loyalty. The only limitation we place is out of respect for existing tenants. Our goal is to meet new demands without compromising the experience of our long-standing members.

How important is flexibility to your clients regarding workspace, contract duration, or additional services?

Flexibility is one of our core strengths and a fundamental part of our DNA. Many companies choose Headsquarter specifically because we offer an agile alternative to traditional office solutions. While conventional leases typically run for five years or more, we offer flexible terms ranging from six to 36 months - with the option to scale up mid-year.

This adaptability is a significant advantage, especially for fast-growing companies in the tech sector.

Do you have specific strategies or marketing measures to attract tech and AI companies?

We maintain an international network of specialized brokers and collaborate with select intermediaries. Our strategy combines targeted networking with proactive outreach to companies that would be valuable additions to our community.

In the long term, we rely on organic growth driven by our existing members. Fortunately, our clients appreciate our offering and service quality so much that they actively recommend us to others. This kind of authentic word-of-mouth remains one of our most powerful growth drivers.

International tech companies, especially those from the U.S. or Asia, often bring new requirements related to security standards, health and safety, or IT infrastructure, which we integrate into our services.

What does the future look like for Headsquarter? Are there plans to expand or launch new services geared toward tech startups?

Our offering constantly evolves to keep pace with our clients' changing needs. International tech companies, especially those from the U.S. or Asia, often bring new requirements related to security standards, health and safety, or IT infrastructure, which we integrate into our services.

Current developments include collaborating with a leading local fitness provider and a partnership with TEDx Zurich. These initiatives strengthen our role as a community platform and help us expand our ecosystem further.

What was your highlight from the past year - a success story or special moment that captures what Headsquarter is all about?

Beyond welcoming many inspiring new clients, one special highlight was opening our largest workspace to date: In March 2025, we launched our first single-tenant location at Stockerstrasse 33. This project marks a significant milestone for Headsquarter and showcases our growth and ability to deliver tailored solutions for companies of all sizes.
